Scottish Air Rifle & Pistol Association [SARPA]

Scottish Air Rifle & Pistol Association [SARPA]

The Scottish Air Rifle and Pistol Association is the national governing body for Field Target Air Rifle Shooting in Scotland. It is a founder member of the British Field Target Association, the sport's national governing body, and is recognised as a National Governing Body by the World Field Target Federation.

SARPA is managed by a Committee elected by the members of affiliated clubs at the organisation's Annual General Meeting.

SARPA assists affiliated clubs by advising on setting up and running shooting events, training marshals to providing targets, rifles, and other equipment for loan to affiliated clubs.

SARPA assists affiliated clubs to run the Scottish Field Target and Scottish Hunter Leagues, including the SARPA Field Target Championships and SARPA Hunter Field Target Championships by compiling Competition Calendar, supplying trophies and administrating all scores & gradings.

SARPA works to promote the safe, responsible and lawful use of air rifles and pistols and campaigns to protect the freedom to responsibly own and use air rifles.

The Association also runs shooting galleries at public events such as game fairs and village galas to enable the public to try air rifle shooting in a safe environment.

If you are interested in air rifle or pistol shooting, it is wise to join a club. SARPA-affiliated clubs welcome new members of all levels of experience and ability, and cater for both informal fun shooting and competitive target activity. As well as providing a safe place to shoot with air guns, clubs offer a fantastic opportunity to meet new people who share your interest and to improve your shooting skills.
