I'll tell you a true story about fishing rods. Many years ago while I was in the military a group of us went cod fishing on a charter boat out of Whitby. We all had modern boat rods and were fishing strings of six muppets tipped with mussels and were getting 2 to 3 4 to 5lb cod a cast.
Well on the boat with us was an old boy well into his 70s, his rod was an old pool cue with the rings held on with gaffer tape and a wooden Scarborough reel. For every fish we caught he caught he caught 2. Sometimes its not all about fancy gear but the man behind it. `He told us that because there is no bend in a cue he could feel every bite.
