Charged with having a catapult in public place

Well that is what happens if you’re just carrying something like that around without good reason. The problem is that these idiots create a legal precedent which in turn makes it easier to prosecute the next guy found with a catapult. That is how common law develops.
Something that would once have been considered to be a child’s toy (see any Beano comic from the 1970’s) has now become a dangerous offensive weapon

Very true.

Yup that sums it up Mike.

Makes me wary about taking my little one out with one like my father did with me. I was handed one at 7 years of age.

The ridiculous thing is that you don’t need to wait until you’re 18 to make one and they’re so easy to make. Surgical tubing is cheap and plentiful. Ball bearings are cheap…I don’t particularly like catapults but it’s ludicrous to try to restrict them…next it will be banning sticks.

We used the inner tube of bicycle tires.

I really don’t like that I’m at the mercy of the police without some wiggle room as who really determines the “reasonable reason” the judge?
The fact is I’m responsible enough to judge what is reasonable and what is not without plod

Unfortunately this isn’t recognised in court

Seems to me the penalty that man got was to harsh unless he has previous (this I can understand)
